AI: A Future, a Danger, or Both?
An InterGenerational Debate

On September 23 in New York City, the Sustainable Media Center will bring together two GenZ and two GenX+ voices for a candid intergenerational debate about AI.
GenZ has grown up with algorithms shaping how they learn, communicate, create, and understand the world, while GenX+ encountered AI after building careers, institutions, and habits in a largely pre-digital era. Those different starting points may shape what each generation sees most clearly. GenZ may be quicker to recognize AI’s possibilities and more comfortable adapting to it, while GenX+ may be more alert to what could be lost, including jobs, privacy, human judgment, and trust.
This conversation across generations will examine how AI is changing work, creativity, education, trust, relationships, and our sense of the future. A moderator will challenge both generations to explore where their views diverge, where they overlap, and what each may be missing about the other’s experience.
The event will take place before a live audience thanks to the generous supoort of Mintz, at 919 3rd Avenue and will also be recorded and streamed online.
Moderator Laura Globig is a cognitive neuroscientist and research scientist at New York University. She earned her PhD from University College London and was a visiting scholar at MIT. Her research combines behavioral experiments, computational modeling and neuroimaging to examine how AI systems and online platforms shape beliefs, decisions and behavior.
Dan DeWolf (GenX+)
Dan DeWolf chairs Mintz’s Technology Practice and co-chairs its Venture Capital and Emerging Companies Practice. An authority on growth companies and venture capital law, he advises startups and investors in the United States and abroad. He also teaches venture capital law at NYU and previously co-founded an early-stage venture firm.
Kayleigh Robertson (GenZ)
Kayleigh Robertson is a mental health advocate, researcher and nationally certified peer support specialist who examines social media’s effects on identity and well-being. Drawing on lived experience, she speaks and writes about digital dependency and recovery. She founded the Digital Recovery Centre to support individuals and families experiencing online harms.
Saanvi Arora (GenZ)
Saanvi Arora is a technology policy specialist, youth advocate and founder of the Youth Power Project. She studied computer science and legal studies at UC Berkeley and has helped advance over a dozen youth-led public policies addressing mental health, healthcare equity and adolescent rights at state and federal levels nationwide.
Steven Rosenbaum (GenX+)
Steven Rosenbaum is an author, entrepreneur, and filmmaker. He is executive director of the Sustainable Media Center and author of The Future of Truth: How AI Reshapes Reality. He directed the acclaimed documentary 7 Days in September and has spent his career examining media, technology, democracy and trust.
