Deja Foxx - Bio

Deja Foxx is an activist, strategist, and public speaker known for her work in youth advocacy, social media reinvention /reform and reproductive justice. She is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Sustainable Media Center.  Born in 2000, she gained national recognition as a teenager when she confronted Senator Jeff Flake at a 2017 town hall about his stance on Planned Parenthood funding. This moment propelled her into digital activism.

Says Foxx: “Social media isn’t just a frivolous teenage pastime for us. 44% of 18-24 year olds use TikTok as their primary news source. We are building our communities, our sense of self, our political opinions, and our careers online. And in a world where Gen Z makes up 40% of all consumers and influences over $600 billion in family spending, this means real-world impacts on culture, the economy, and yes, elections too.”

Foxx founded GenZ Girl Gang, an organization focused on fostering community and opportunity for young women and nonbinary individuals through digital organizing. She also worked as a national organizer for Planned Parenthood and later served as the Influencer and Surrogate Strategist for Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2020 presidential campaign, where she helped engage young voters through digital platforms.

Foxx explains it this way: “the next wave of social isn’t coming from Big Tech – it’s coming from new platforms and new – younger – builders that actually get what we need. No endless scrolling, no data harvesting, no addictive algorithms. We’re talking real privacy, actual community control, and zero tracking. “

Beyond politics, Foxx is a public speaker, sharing insights on youth-led movements, social media activism, and the power of marginalized voices in shaping the future. She has been recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and continues to advocate for equitable access to education, healthcare, and leadership opportunities.
